Q. What is the mandate of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation?
Our mandate states that grants are to be given for charitable projects in Canada for the benefit of Canadians.
Q. What are the funding guidelines of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation?
The Foundation is proactive and focused in its grant making. This allows for more significant impact and innovation in the organizations that are supported. Accordingly, the Foundation directs its resources to specific initiatives in scholarships and education, land conservation and trustee-initiated grants.
Q. What are the application procedures of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation?
As a result of its current mandate, the Foundation regrets that it is unable to consider support for unsolicited grant proposals at this time.
Q. Does the W. Garfield Weston Foundation issue an annual report?
The Foundation does not issue an annual report, preferring to direct as much of its funding as possible into charitable programs.
Q. Do you provide financial support to individuals?
By law, the Foundation is only able to support registered Canadian charities.
Q. Who is on the Foundation's Board of Directors?
The majority of the board is comprised of descendents of Garfield and Reta Weston.
